From the Tourism Section of the town of Chia, in the department of Cundinamarca, it’s a pride to tell them that we are strengthening our territory’s identity as an eicentre and gastronomic in the region and an accomplishment that has been consolidated after the outstanding participation of our talented cooks and chefs, at the well-known Gastronomic Congress of Popayan, one of the most important events of the country in its category.
The path to this participation began with the idea of an ambitious “Gastronomic Challenge for Identity and Culinary Innovation of Chia,” this challenge was intended to strengthen our local culture as a heritage but also to boost local economy and to recognize our area’s identity. That’s why throughout several months, the challenge offered a complete participatory process to cooks, chefs and entrepreneurs, with the creation of telling stories through a plate, a process that also culminated with an exciting final, where best plates were evaluated for their identity, technique and innovation.
The challenges were not only met with local recognition but with an invaluable opportunity to attend the Gastronomic Congress of Popayan, an important step to project the talent and culinary wealth of the municipality at national level.
That participation was a definitive proof that Chia is far more than a town close to the capital, and a destination with a diverse, true and innovative gastronomic offer. The winners’ experience at this congress strengthens Chia’s vision as a place where food becomes a cultural and economic experience, bringing with them visitors and tourists who seek unique flavors and unforgettable experiences and so we have been committed to place our town as a tourist destination from the Municipal Administration.
